Predators usually stay within a specific territory and do not intentionally hunt livestock herds. The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is one of the fastest land mammals; at the same time, it is the rarest "big cat" in Africa. It is currently estimated that around 7,000 cheetahs remain in the wild. The dusty savannas of Namibia are a very significant home for big cats. Unfortunately, cheetahs cannot feel completely safe in Namibia because local residents regularly "conflict" with them. Why? Cheetahs also hunt livestock. Usually, such a "conflict" ends in the death of the cheetah...

A research group set to work, wanting to find a solution to the situation that would satisfy both farmers and cheetahs. Between 2007 and 2018, 106 cheetahs were fitted with GPS collars so that scientists could obtain new data on animal behaviour. The information obtained was also shared with local farm owners.
