Now is the right time to start thinking about the construction of wind farms in Latvia – that is the assertion from "Latvenergo". The state-owned electricity and heat production company plans significant investments in renewable energy projects over the coming years, particularly in onshore and offshore wind farms. This is deemed important for us to become more independent from the kind of electricity price fluctuations we are experiencing now.
Latvia, like the majority of European countries, is moving towards climate neutrality. It is expected that within the next 30 years, electricity will be produced without greenhouse gas emissions. Consequently, "Latvenergo" is planning significant investments in renewable energy projects, with a particular focus on the use of wind power.
