To understand and evaluate the potential for water usage in wetlands, World Wetlands Day is marked on 2 February, which is particularly special for Latvia this year as Ķemeri National Park is in its new status for the first time. On 1 December last year, a decision came into force granting the status of a wetland of international importance to the entire territory of Ķemeri National Park (ĶNP).
