(...) in the latest version of the area plan, a further 202,000 m2 of natural territory is being designated for development. An additional 88,000 m2 of forest land has been reallocated for detached house construction in areas where it was previously justified by the building of state and municipal public facilities.

These are areas in Lielupe, Bulduri, Dzintari, Pumpuri, Jaundubulti, Asari, and Valteri. Throughout the public consultation process, the municipality has failed to provide any calculations or other justification demonstrating adherence to the core principle of sustainable development – to meet the needs of the present generation while balancing the interests of public welfare, environmental protection, and economic development, while simultaneously ensuring compliance with environmental requirements and the preservation of biodiversity so as not to reduce the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
