The European Union has set a target – to plant three billion additional trees across Europe by 2030. This initiative is part of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the Forest Strategy 2030, which aim to restore ecosystems, strengthen biodiversity and help reduce the impact of climate change.
Why does this initiative matter?
Trees are our planet’s “green lungs” – they capture carbon, clean the air, protect the soil and support diverse habitats for plants and animals. Every new tree helps improve the environment we live in and brings Europe closer to climate neutrality.
The initiative invites everyone – residents, organisations, local authorities and businesses – to get involved in planting trees and help achieve this shared goal.
How can you take part?
Plant a tree! ...in your garden, on your farm, at your school or on your company’s grounds. What matters is that the tree suits the local environment – the right tree in the right place!
