The Italian Foreign Minister has visited Algeria, meeting with leading representatives of its energy sector. The initiative came from European governments, who, understanding the situation in Ukraine, are taking action to find alternative energy supply sources to Russian gas. Natural gas is considered the cleanest fossil fuel, but it is certainly not a replacement for renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, because it releases large amounts of methane.
