It is no myth that Latvians live in trees. We live in a country where forests cover 3.412 million hectares, or 53% of the country's territory. In terms of forest coverage, Latvia ranks fourth in Europe. Meanwhile, the number of officially registered notable trees in Latvia in 2020 already exceeded 11,500, but including unregistered ones, the number could be around 20,000, meaning Latvia has one of the highest densities of notable trees in Europe. Only Great Britain has more registered notable trees.
