Growing interest in long-term forest management

There is a growing market interest in forest management as a long-term service, stated Gatis Megnis, head of the Forest Management Department of the SIA Pata group.

He explained that in recent years, timber as a raw material has become highly sought after worldwide – wood is increasingly being used to replace steel, aluminium, concrete or plastic in construction, for example, by introducing much more environmentally friendly solutions that consume less energy. At the same time, a shift in mindset and the transition to "green construction" has created significant demand for timber in Latvia as well.

"High demand is accompanied by fierce competition," said G. Megnis, emphasising that, on the whole, competition should be viewed positively because it not only improves the overall quality of services but also promotes the development of the sector. Furthermore, companies are motivated to work more efficiently and productively, and to build long-term relationships with clients.
