In Latvia, the demand for timber buildings has been increasing year on year in both the private and public sectors, yet our country still has room for improvement before it can fully realise its potential, according to experts interviewed by Latvijas Radio. At present, Latvian timber builders are flexing their muscles abroad, as domestic demand falls far short of experience gained in foreign markets. However, it is a positive sign that myths surrounding timber buildings are slowly being dispelled in Latvian society, creating fertile ground for an increase in demand, as elsewhere in the world, timber buildings are the first choice, rather than the second, when deciding which material to use for construction.
