Forest product exports fell by 5.1% in two months

In the first two months of this year, Latvia exported forest products with a value of 435.218 million euros, which is 5.1% less than in the corresponding period of 2019, according to information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Of this, timber and its products were exported in the amount of 373.167 million euros in the first two months of 2020, which is 6.6% less than a year earlier, and accounted for 85.7% (a year ago – 87.1%) of total forest product exports.

Within timber and its products, sawn timber exports decreased by 15.6% to 96.237 million euros, firewood exports amounted to 80.568 million euros, which is 7.9% less than in the corresponding period of 2019, while plywood was exported to the value of 39.275 million euros, an increase of 1.2%.
