US Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer has stated that the flooding in the New York region, caused by Hurricane Ida, demonstrates the need for concrete legislative action on climate change issues.
"If we continue to pretend that the changes we are seeing are not related to the climate, we are heading down the wrong path. An even greater mistake would be the lack of swift and clear action."
C. Schumer has prepared a series of proposals (legislative amendments) on climate and economic resilience issues, which he believes will, if "not stop global warming, at least reduce its dire impact on the United States."
