To reach the point of hunting, a whole series of regulations must be met. "Latvia has some of the strictest regulations in Europe – for both hunting and firearm ownership!" emphasises Linda Dombrovska, explaining that while the sight of an angler with a strong drink is not exactly rare near bodies of water, hunting and alcohol are no longer an acceptable combination in the 21st century, as such behaviour can lead to the loss of a firearm licence and cause irreversible consequences. Furthermore, every five years, hunters must visit a narcologist for an examination – such requirements, for instance, do not exist in Western Europe.
