Employees of AS Latvijas valsts meži (LVM) are increasingly finding various types of waste in the forest, with the volume having risen significantly last year compared to the previous year, according to information published on the company's website.
While just over 1,000 cubic metres of waste were collected in state forests in 2017, this figure reached 1,300 cubic metres in 2018, and 2,000 cubic metres last year, which is the highest total volume of collected waste in the last 10 years.
Compared to 2018, the amount of funding spent by the company increased by 32% last year, with nearly 2,000 cubic metres of waste collected at a cost of 130,000 euros.
