In early February, polar researchers are planning an expedition during which they hope to obtain important information about the massive A68a iceberg, which is drifting from Antarctica. A group of British researchers will set off from the Falkland Islands in the hope of encountering the large iceberg on their way, which has been floating off the island of South Georgia for several weeks.
One of the researchers' goals is to use small, robotically controlled submarines to take water samples from beneath the iceberg and understand how fresh water from the melting iceberg affects life in the ocean.
