In the current crisis situation, the Latvian timber processing industry can certainly see quite a few opportunities, for example, in Europe's efforts to move towards a self-sufficient economic model as far as possible and the shortening of many supply chains, Uldis Biķis, Chairman of the Council of the timber processing company “Latvijas finieris”, told the LETA agency.
He reminded that “Latvijas finieris” exports more than 90% of its core birch plywood production, mainly to countries in the European Economic Area.
Therefore, the company does not dare to make any forecasts regarding the impact of the crisis on its 2020 performance indicators, as the company is doing all its planning in the short term, responding to the rapidly changing conditions in the countries of its cooperation partners.
