Swedish authorities responsible for roads and transport issues are planning to build 10 bridges (crossing points) for reindeer in the north of the country.
Changes in nature and climatic conditions have created certain problems for reindeer herders and, naturally, for the reindeer themselves, for example, unforeseen temperature fluctuations: snow melts, then suddenly freezes, then melts again. A crust or even a layer of ice has formed, which covers the reindeer's main food source - lichen, becoming excessively thick and difficult to penetrate in some places. For this reason, herds have to cover long distances to find a place where food is available, often needing to cross busy highways, which can create various risks.
