In Russia, 126 forest fires have been recorded in the Krasnoyarsk Territory (as reported by the Forest Fire Centre), covering an area of approximately 704,000 hectares. The fires are considered a natural phenomenon, as there has been a prolonged lack of precipitation in the north of the region, temperatures are holding at around +30°C, and there have been wind gusts and "dry thunderstorms".
In the Irkutsk region, meanwhile, around 100 fires have been observed covering an area of more than 285,000 hectares.
