The ratio between the number of trees planted and those permitted to be felled characterises the municipality's environmental policy, with the caveat that tree planting only applies to land owned by the Riga municipality, while tree felling applies to the entire territory of Riga. The municipality does not collect information on private land regarding how many trees are planted or naturally seed and grow in those areas. It would be useful to highlight how many of the felled trees were growing on municipal land and were cut down in accordance with permits issued by one municipal institution to another.
