This spring, more than two hundred new trees will start life along the streets of Riga. This is slightly more than in previous years, yet the new city council has not yet managed to radically increase the capital’s landscaping plans. The council admits that, in the conditions of a crisis budget, a 10% increase in funding for the city's greenery programme is the best that could be done. More attention will also be paid to the maintenance of existing trees and protecting them from salt.
