Sarcosoma globosum is a rare mushroom species protected throughout Europe, which was once even considered extinct in Latvia. However, increasingly warm weather and winters with thaws are encouraging the growth of this fungus, and a valuable site with more than one hundred Sarcosoma globosum has just been discovered in Rēzekne Municipality.
