The project faced many difficulties during its development.

As early as 2014, there were discussions about constructing the building (Oregon State University College of Forestry) using cross-laminated timber (CLT), with the intention of making the structure a symbol for the rebirth of the timber industry in Oregon. The plan envisaged using local materials (raw materials), bearing in mind that Oregon has only one CLT manufacturer.
