Following the conclusion of the additional wood chip sales process by Latvijas valsts meži (LVM), the company will sign supply contracts for the 2022/2023 heating season with six buyers out of a total of 16 participants. Almost 80% of the purchased volume will go to heat supply companies.
“With the rapid increase in demand for energy products, driven by the market shift from natural gas consumption to other energy sources, LVM immediately began working on increasing the volumes of energy wood production. The LVM board decided to increase wood chip sales volumes by 150 thousand bulk m3, which is equivalent to 130 thousand MWh. This additional volume represents an increase of up to 30% on the initially planned amount, and we plan to deliver it during the 2022/2023 heating season,” states LVM board member Jānis Lapiņš.
