Agriculture and food production are not only traditional sectors of the Latvian economy – they make a very significant contribution to the national economy. Exports of food, agricultural and fisheries products have continued to increase in recent years, reaching 3.3 billion euros in 2020, or 23% of the country's total export volume. Meanwhile, exports from the forest sector in 2020 were worth 2.6 billion euros, or 19% of the total export volume. This growth has been achieved not only by introducing modern technological solutions and applying the latest technical advancements in production – a great deal of importance lies with the people working in the sector, their education, skills, and interest in the industry's development.
