Scientists have filmed for the first time an egg-laying mammal once named after Sir David Attenborough, proving that the animal is not extinct. An expedition led by researchers from the University of Oxford in Indonesia recorded four three-second videos showing the long-beaked echidna named after Attenborough.
Echidnas are described as living fossils. They are thought to have emerged around 200 million years ago, when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth.
