Latvia's national natural resources that can be utilised in the economy can be counted on the fingers of one hand – they are land, water, forests and peatlands, acknowledges Bruno Andersons, leading researcher at the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, Doctor of Chemistry, and academician of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, in an interview. When thinking about forest use, one must consider both local and global scales, as the forest ensures economic circulation and jobs, provides high-quality recreation in fresh air, and plays a role in reducing global warming.
