Reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions is a goal that the world must undoubtedly move towards, but what should be done with the emissions that have already entered the atmosphere? One direction in which various technological solutions are being sought is the capture of CO2 and its conversion into useful resources. Work is also underway in Latvia to make this process cheaper and more efficient.

Professor Valdis Kampars of Riga Technical University (RTU) points out that over the last 20 years, the world has been thinking about how to capture CO2 and store it somewhere, but the time has now come where this idea has taken a slightly different direction; specifically, the focus is shifting towards how to convert what is captured into something useful and usable, rather than simply storing it.
