“Rīgas Apriņķa Avīze” contacted several timber processing companies in the Pierīga region to find out how they had fared during the three months of the state of emergency declared due to Covid-19. It turned out that situations varied greatly – some continued to work as normal, others saw such a surge in demand for their products that they could not keep up with production, with prices having also risen. Admittedly, there were also problems, mainly related to exports to Asian countries, as well as to Europe and the USA.
