The war started by Vladimir Putin relies on the money that Russia receives from selling fossil fuels to Europe. Although Ukraine has successfully and, to some, incredibly repelled Russia's attempt to capture Kyiv, V. Putin will not be finally stopped until Europe puts an end to its energy dependence on the aggressor state. This means that Germany, whose political and business leaders insist that they cannot do without Russian natural gas—even though many of the country's economists disagree—has effectively become the main supporter of the terrorist V. Putin. It is shameful, and given Germany's recent history, also incredibly hypocritical.
Germany (politicians, business people) has been warned for decades about the risks associated with the country's dependence on Russian natural gas. However, the political leaders of the large European nation, focusing on the short-term gains from cheap energy, ignored these warnings. On the eve of the war in Ukraine, 55% of the natural gas used in Germany came from Russia.
