European Union countries have committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Implementing the green transition will require very large, even enormous, investments.
The EU and its member states have secured more than 550 billion euros for this purpose in the next multiannual budget. In addition, a portion of the revenue generated from ETS quota auctions is and will be spent on addressing climate issues. This money will be distributed across several funds, with its use earmarked for various aspects of the green transition. Furthermore, the EU is stimulating private investment in technologies that help make the European economy more environmentally friendly.
