The joint-stock company “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) Strenči nursery is considered one of the most modern in the world in the field of seedling cultivation, and there is truly much to see here. It is possible to witness the automatic sowing of seedlings, as well as an automated packing line that packs approximately 250 thousand seedlings per day. At the end of the line, a large robotic arm is busily at work – it stacks crates of seedlings in multiple layers onto pallets, which are then transported to cold storage chambers. Laima Zvejniece, Executive Director of Production at “LVM Sēklas un stādi”, takes us on a tour of the nursery and explains how a forest is born.
