Questions are coming to the fore regarding whether a company operates responsibly and what positive long-term contribution it makes to the surrounding society; whether a company is simply squandering natural resources or acting sustainably and helping people to treat the surrounding environment with greater care, so that future generations can live in better conditions.
It is in this context that we should view the growing recognition and popularity of ESG (environmental, social and governance) reports, which reflect corporate policy in various areas of sustainability. Institutional investors and asset managers also want to be sure of how a company is managed and how it is viewed by customers and different social groups before making investments. This is precisely why environmental, social and governance issues have now become a daily topic of conversation among business and investment professionals. Even those people who are not interested in finance and investments will most likely have noticed the efforts of particularly large companies to publicly demonstrate their stance on ESG issues. The trend of preparing ESG reports is spreading among companies planning to go public and list shares on the stock exchange, such as AS DelfinGroup and AS "Virši".
