From roots to the crown

One must speak down to one's own roots and then from one's own roots to the other's roots — all the way to their crown.
(I. Ziedonis)

“This is what Imants Ziedonis says about speaking through the roots, and that same need compels me too – to speak, to clarify and to find clarity in my own sense of belonging and consciousness. A person can survive without food for quite a long time, for less time without water, but it is still possible for a while; yet without oxygen, a human and all living things die within a few minutes... The lungs of the world are forests, forests that we treat with significant indifference and often arrogance. Latvia is a land of forests; forestry, as we see it, sometimes raises many questions and occasionally even bewilderment and anger. In the course of these programmes, we will endeavour to find answers to the questions that interest us,” shares Dace.

From 9 August, a new and informative series of programmes will be broadcast on Kurzemes Radio with the aim of explaining to the public the importance and sustainability of forest management in Latvia. A total of eight valuable programmes are planned, with the forest as the main leitmotif. The programmes are hosted by Adelīna Anna Ziemele and produced by Dace Blathena.
