From 31 July, trains from Riga to Liepāja and back will run every day

Following the directive of Minister of Transport Jānis Vitenbergs, the Public Transport Council decided today to introduce daily passenger train services from Riga to Liepāja and back, starting from 31 July. The train will run towards Riga in the morning and towards Liepāja in the evening. Due to increased demand from the public, this route will operate twice on Sundays.

“Local residents, as well as members of parliament, have approached me several times, asking to find a way to introduce additional train services. Until now, trains to Liepāja have only run twice a week and have often been so full that passengers have had to stand. People deserve comfortable travel and good connectivity. These conveniences will be enjoyed not only by the residents of Liepāja and Riga, but also by those in Skrunda, Saldus, Dobele and the surrounding regions,” says J. Vitenbergs.
