What do people in South Africa, China and Brazil have in common? In these countries, people place greater importance on transitioning from fossil fuels in favour of climate-friendly and sustainable energy. This is the result of a study conducted by Ipsos for the World Economic Forum. More than 22,000 people were surveyed in 30 countries, of whom 84% supported the phase-out of burning gas, coal and oil.

However, there are also countries where a significant portion of those surveyed do not yet want to move away from fossil fuels. For example, the United Kingdom and, in particular, the USA and Russia. Nevertheless, given the current record-high inflation, the final word on this
topic has perhaps not yet been said. If energy prices continue to rise, 55% of those surveyed believe that it will affect their purchasing power.
