Former IT specialist Juris Šleiners has returned to his native Dundaga to farm, experiment and do things "his own way"

Juris Šleiners returned to Dundaga four years ago when he realised he did not want to spend his life aimlessly earning money in the capital. Without a background in agriculture, Juris found his calling in land work and permaculture. With a scientific approach and experiments, he strives every day to give more back to nature and avoid depleting its resources – the soil. Juris does things differently from others, researching and experimenting himself, he explained on the Latvian Television programme "Zemes stāsti".

At his parents' farm "Kļavenieki", Juris, as he puts it, is "building his own garden". Through various experiments and research, he practices and develops permaculture principles, growing vegetables and caring not only for their quality but also for the soil in which they grow.
