This summer, there has been a large influx of prospective students at the LLU Faculty of Forestry. Dean Linards Sisenis explains this interest by the stability and dynamism of the forestry sector. Moreover, much has been done to ensure the Faculty of Forestry has a special aura and the ability to train good young specialists.
The cross-sectoral aspect is also increasingly starting to dominate in the forestry industry. Nowadays, a specialist cannot work successfully without an understanding of new technologies in the sector. In the past, a well-trained forester from a technical school could work honestly in even a leading position for their entire working life with their knowledge. Nowadays, instead of a horse, the forester has a jeep, and instead of a notepad and pencil, a tablet with a GPS system and appropriate software.
