Hundreds of forestry workers and their supporters gathered at a rally to protest against planned changes to logging, which are expected to impact the lives of both the workers themselves and their families in the near future. The government of British Columbia (a province in south-western Canada) plans to defer logging for at least two years on approximately 2.6 million hectares of forest ("old-growth forest") until logging companies refine (rethink) their approach to sustainable forest regeneration. The British Columbia Forestry Alliance and those directly affected consider these plans unfair.
