On Tuesday, 9 August, the government approved amendments prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture (ZM) to the regulations on forest inventory and the flow of information in the State Forest Register, stipulating that forest inventory data is to be published on the open data portal data.gov.lv within the existing State Forest Register (MVR).

From now on, the State Forest Service (VMD) will publish updated forest inventory data in the MVR annually, and the published data will be available to everyone. Consequently, these data will be accessible online both to forest owners themselves and to forest inventory practitioners, and a special data request to the VMD will no longer be necessary.

The regulations also specify how documents can be received and submitted online in the MVR. This can be done by connecting to the State Forest Register via the VMD website or the public administration services portal Latvija.lv, where a link has been added to the e-services provided by the VMD that automatically redirects the service user to the State Forest Register.
