Although there has been growing interest in purchasing rural properties, empty and abandoned houses can still be seen in many places in the countryside. To help these properties find new owners, the Kārķi Parish of Valka Municipality began identifying empty rural homes and their owners last autumn, helping to connect them with potential buyers. The result was a success, and there are now plans to do the same in Ērģeme Parish, with a potential rollout across the entire Valka Municipality later on. (...)
