Firewood prices have risen sharply in Estonia

While 10 m3 of split firewood could be bought in Estonia last year for €350-380, one currently has to pay around €550 or more for the same volume. It appears that prices will continue to rise. For the second year running, firewood suppliers in Estonia are complaining about a lack of raw materials; specifically, there is a shortage of roundwood, and if they do manage to buy any, it costs a great deal of money.

In addition, the cost of diesel fuel and electricity has risen sharply, and labour costs have increased, which are now estimated at around €55 per m3. Birch firewood logs, which have always been more expensive, cannot now be bought for less than €80. There is also no point in traders holding onto birch firewood, as no one will buy it anyway.
