On Tuesday, 14 July, the government heard an informative report prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the forest firefighting situation at the State Forest Service (VMD).

The VMD requires capacity strengthening. Long-term operation with insufficient funding diminishes the capability and motivation to perform the forest firefighting function to a high standard, which in turn impacts national internal security, the economic development of the forest sector, natural values, and public safety and recreational opportunities. Without finding a solution for forest fire safety funding, excessive staff workloads, high turnover of seasonal workers, and the depletion of the material and technical base will continue, increasing the likelihood of forest fire spread and thereby creating additional risks to national internal security and the implementation of the civil aviation plan.
