In the first four months of this year, the State Forest Service has issued permits for economic activity in nearly 30,000 felling sites, which is 15,000 fewer than in the same period last year. The reduction in the number of felling permits this spring has been primarily influenced by the state of emergency due to the tree pest – the spruce bark beetle, as tree felling is prohibited in protection zones, except for trees freshly infested by pests.
