Due to excessive logging volumes, tropical forests are disappearing at an alarming rate, but it is important to remember that they have the potential to naturally regenerate on abandoned land. This has been proven in an international study* conducted under the leadership of scientists at Wageningen University. How a forest recovers depends on the amount of rainfall, the age of the forest, and the tree species.
