In the first five months of this year, Latvia exported forest products worth 1.314 billion euros, which is 24.1% more than in the corresponding period of 2020, according to information provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Of that amount, timber and timber products were exported to the value of 1.146 billion euros in the first five months of 2021, which is 26.4% more than the year before, accounting for 87.2% (a year ago - 85.6%) of total forest product exports.
Within timber and timber products, sawn timber exports totalled 384.298 million euros, which is 39.9% more than in the corresponding period of 2020, wood fuel accounted for 216.313 million euros, an increase of 0.3%, wood particle board exports rose by 66.2% to 106.874 million euros, while plywood exports fell by 1.5% to 99.487 million euros.
