Experts advise preparing for an expensive winter

The coming winter arrives with significantly higher prices for food, medicines, fuel, and energy than a year ago. "The lower the temperature falls, the higher energy prices will climb, adding momentum to a further rise in inflation," predicts SEB banka macroeconomic expert Dainis Gašpuitis.

In October 2021, compared to October 2020, the average consumer price level increased by 6.0%, according to the latest data from the Central Statistical Bureau. The biggest impact on the changes in the average consumer price level in October 2021, compared to October 2020, came from price increases for transport-related goods and services, housing-related goods and services, food and non-alcoholic beverages, healthcare, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, as well as furnishings for the home.
