On the competition website, you can discover the stories of trees from 16 participating countries and read them in 16 languages. The winner will be determined by public vote.

The European Tree of the Year competition has been held in other European countries since 2002, organised by organisations associated with forests, land, the environment, and history. In Latvia, it was held for the first time last year, in 2021.
As is well known, 6,843,977,334 trees have been counted in Latvia (data from the Latvian National Forest Inventory).
We would like to remind voters: in this competition, both the tree and the story are equally important.
