During the Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival, from 7 to 13 July (10.00–19.00), Vērmanes Garden will become one of the main meeting places where visitors can experience, or be reminded of, what the festival is really about – warmth and togetherness.
Over these days every participant and supporter, every visitor to the capital and every passer-by will be both a creator of the festival and a bearer of its tradition. That is why everyone is invited to Vērmanes Garden to help build the festive atmosphere – by singing, dancing, performing, discovering and sharing their experience with others. It will be an opportunity to strengthen both Latvian values and a culture of cooperation and participation.
The “Latvijas Finieris” team has also arranged a meeting point of its own in Vērmanes Garden for the festival week – a miniature of the Mežaparks Great Bandstand, known as the “Silver Grove”. It has been made as a tribute to the song and dance festival tradition, which unites society and strengthens Latvian values. The miniature bandstand is a reminder of the significance of its big “sister” – the Mežaparks Great Bandstand – as a unique cultural and architectural landmark created to highlight the interplay between people and nature.
We invite everyone to step onto the stage of the “Silver Grove” miniature and become part of the festival! Sing, recite, tell your story through dance or simply give yourself over to the moment – this stage is a place where anyone can create, take part and share their emotions. Whether you are a festival participant, a supporter, a visitor to the city or simply a passer-by – be part of creating the festival and of its story!

The original “Silver Grove”, the Mežaparks Great Bandstand, is the joint work of the talented architects Juris Poga and Austris Mailītis. Its most notable feature is its acoustic quality, provided by 510 spherically curved sound shields. These shields are made from the birch plywood “Riga Preprime” and “Riga Ply” produced by “Latvijas Finieris” from birch grown in the Baltics. The miniature stage was designed by the architect Mikus Grende and built by SIA “Dekorāciju Darbnīca”.
