On 25 September, Jurģis Miezainis, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, made a working visit to Lithuania, where he met the executive director of the production plant of UAB “Likmere”, the Lithuanian subsidiary of AS “Latvijas Finieris”, and also took part in the awards ceremony for the winners of the “Namejs Award 2024”, at which the most successful Latvian companies and cooperation partners in Lithuania were honoured.

At the start of the visit, J. Miezainis visited the UAB “Likmere” plant, where he met its executive director Mindaugas Kasmauskas and discussed the company's development, support for businesses, trends in the Latvian economy and support for Ukraine.

“The company “Likmere” is an example of how a Latvian company can successfully expand its production elsewhere in Europe. Cooperation of this kind creates tangible value for both sides and confirms that the economic relations between our two countries rest on a solid foundation and have high potential for further growth. Lithuania is our closest and principal foreign trade partner. It is essential for us to maintain a close and open dialogue with Lithuania, particularly at present, when we face a range of geopolitical challenges. We greatly appreciate the contribution “Likmere” has made in providing support to Ukraine,” Jurģis Miezainis emphasises.

After the plant visit, in Vilnius the Parliamentary Secretary, together with a representative of the Lithuanian Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, congratulated the winners of the “Namejs Award 2024”.

The aim of the competition is to honour the most successful Latvian companies operating in Lithuania, as well as to promote the products and services of Latvian businesses, fostering mutual cooperation and the competitiveness of our companies in the Lithuanian market. Alongside them, Latvia's best cooperation partners – Lithuanian companies – were also honoured.

The “Namejs Award 2024” went to:

Fastest growth in exports of goods to Lithuania in 2024 – Brasa Defence Systems;

Fastest growth in exports of services to Lithuania in 2024 – SIA TILTS;

Most successful Latvian-Lithuanian cooperation project in foreign markets in 2024 – EXPO 2025 Osaka;

Best partner – Lithuanian company
