Danish politicians have approved the construction of a giant artificial island. It is planned to host 200 large wind turbines, which will provide energy for approximately 3 million households. The area of the world's first "energy island" will be equivalent to 18 football pitches (120,000 m2), though there is hope to make it three times that size. The project's costs could be the largest in Denmark's history - 210 billion DKK (28 billion euros).
