China remains the largest consumer of Vietnam's agricultural produce

Despite long queues of lorries at the border, China remains the largest consumer of fruit and vegetables grown in Vietnam. These queues have formed because China has tightened border controls for people, vehicles, and various goods in response to the spread of the Omicron variant. These measures have slowed down customs procedures, and as a result, crossing the border at many points takes a much, much longer time. It should be noted that the frequent changes to China's trade and customs policy regulations are well known to the Vietnamese. Despite this situation, the volume of fruit and vegetable exports in the first 11 months of 2021 reached 1.75 billion USD, which is 3.6% more compared to the same period in 2020.
